Sustainability initiatives in the workplace

Running at Salvensee

At Pletzer Resorts, we look to the future with excitement, together with our dedicated employees. Our goal has always been to offer our guests an unforgettable and sustainable vacation, while at the same time focusing on protecting our precious planet.

That is why we are committed to future-oriented sustainability goals in our restaurants, in the Move & Relax area, and in our energy production. We not only value ecological sustainability, but also promote social interaction between guests, employees, and regional partners. Conserving resources and sustainability in tourism are our top priorities!

At Pletzer Resorts, we see sustainability as an opportunity for positive change. We combine hospitality with modern, forward-looking and ecological responsibility. Our daily work is characterized by recycling, environmental awareness, and renewable energies, because we are aware of how important it is to protect our environment, even when traveling.

Sustainability is a fundamental part of our corporate philosophy in economic, social, and ecological terms. This is something that both our guests and our dedicated employees can feel. Experience the unique combination of first-class hospitality and a strong commitment to a sustainable future at Pletzer Resorts.

  • Targeted recycling of waste
  • Offering local products
  • Fair treatment of our employees
  • Social responsibility towards our employees and their families

Food & Beverage

  • 90% of our food comes from Austria.
  • 722 of the 732 items in our dry goods range come from Austria.
  • 80% of the food in our restaurants is produced in the kitchens of Pletzer Resorts.
  • We source breakfast, salad, and all homemade products from the region.
  • Pastries, milk, meat, fruit, vegetables, eggs, and many other foods are 100% from Austria.
  • Our kitchens mainly use natural ingredients.
  • Our kitchens do not use convenience foods, relying instead on high-quality, natural products without chemical additives.
  • In order to preserve nutrients and valuable vitamins in the products, they are gently produced and frozen for transport.

Recycling made easy

  • We do not waste food: leftover ingredients and dishes are either reused or given to our employees.
  • We turn food waste into energy: with BIOTRANS, we recycle sustainably and generate energy from our food waste.
  • We take waste separation seriously: In all our resorts, waste is carefully separated into plastic, residual waste, organic waste, and cardboard.
  • Sustainability is also possible without plastic: Instead of using vacuum packaging, we use reusable buckets.
  • We use large jars instead of small packaging: We present our jams in large jars at the buffet.

Building close to nature

Our guests repeatedly mention a special feeling they experience when entering our hotels and rooms. This is not surprising, as we frequently utilize natural materials and ensure energy-efficient equipment in our sustainable buildings.

We work closely with regional companies to ensure sustainable architecture, efficient heating, good insulation, and energy-saving ventilation. This allows us to guarantee our guests not only beautiful accommodation, but also restful tranquility.

The Pletzer family's hotels are characterized by their low CO2 emissions and are also pioneers in tourism in terms of energy generation. We rely on modern and highly efficient heat pumps produced by IDM Energiesysteme, a company of the PLETZER Group based in Matrei in East Tyrol. Thanks to this innovative technology, we achieve extremely low overall energy consumption, which protects our environment in the long term.
